American Flyer No. 983 Missouri Pacific "Eagle Merchandise Service" Boxcar (1956-1957). This boxcar was painted gray on a black plastic body and finished with stripes in blue, gray and yellow colors. The Missouri Pacific "Eagle Merchandise Service" boxcar was modeled after the Commercial Railroad introduced the concept of "LCL"(Less Than Car Load) service in 1950. Initially this service and these cars were only between the route of the Missouri Pacific and its subsidiary The Texas & The Pacific. Although this provision changed in 1960. Gilbert's version of this boxcar included a pressure sensitive logo version of the MP "buzz saw" herald.
